Nelson is a bright, optimistic, worldly town and is known as New Zealand's sunniest region. In recent years Nelson has increased in profile due to its great weather and the increased popularity of local Marlborough Vineyards. Attractions: Abel Tasman National Park is a costal wonderland that can be explored by land, water and air. There are various tracks within the park that cover golden beaches, granite formations, waterfalls, rock pools and native forest. Abel Tasman National Park is truly a paradise with something for everyone.
Kahurangi National Park is the second largest national park in the country and extends off the Abel Tasman National Park. In this park you can find mysterious plants, rare birds and some of the oldest rocks. The park attracts cavers and fossil hunters due to its complex landforms. The Heaphy Track is the longest Great Walk in New Zealand and a fantastic way to see the natural beauty of the region.
If you love cars, you can head over to Nelson Classic Car Museum which showcases 150 cars and has great coffee and fresh food, with art, jewellery and museum merchandise. The Nelson Market, held on Saturday mornings, offers fresh food and drink, clothing, homewares, jewellery, health and wellbeing and art and music.
